It is perhaps the most widespread method of construction, and we find it in every corner of Greece
To build a house the conventional way we build foundations and frame of reinforced concrete.
For the reinforcement, we always use Greek steel, calculated on the basis of the static design of the building. The masonry is brick, with two plaster layers interior and thermal shell on the exterior of the building.
These constructions have prevailed over the rest (stone, metal etc) for a variety of reasons.
Concrete (reinforced concrete) gives us strong and anti-seismic structures. It is very robust, relatively resistant to fire and water, is relatively economical, does not require much maintenance and can withstand long enough.
Also, once we have to demolish the erected structure, the concrete can be recycled.
